He also noted that additional critical lands will be protected by updated regulations as new developments continue. CSN - Coalition of Southside Neighborhoods
Your Coalition of Southside Neighborhoods (CSN) representatives from the five
neighborhoods (Edgemoor, Fairhaven, South, Happy Valley and South Hill) had a
good meeting with the Port of Bellingham on Monday, Oct. 9, 2006. CSN invited
Executive Director Jim Darling and Commissioner Scott Walker to join us at the
Fairhaven Library to discuss our desire to be partners in the update of the
Fairhaven Harbor Improvement Scheme. The atmosphere was very congenial. Susan
Kaun from Fairhaven shared CSN's history and research of related topics, and
Darling and Walker enthusiastically provided interesting background and insights
on the workings of the Port. We asked numerous questions and they provided
thoughtful answers. We parted with plans for us to solidify our collective
priorities for the waterfront and with Darling offering to consider the best
ways for our needs to be presented as part of the process. In a very real sense,
we have been assured a place at the table as planning goes forward.
