Greetings from ENA

As summer approaches, we can all enjoy nice days in our favorite green space whether it is a trail, a natural wooded area, the park or all of the above.  Bellingham has much to offer and a good part of the city’s character can be attributed to past Greensways funding.  However, the 2006 Greenways Levy has been a controversial issue discussed at city meetings, in the paper and is on many of our minds as we prepare to vote this May.  ENA has invited a representative from the Greenways Committee to the meeting on May 4th who will present information about the levy.  We encourage everyone to come listen, ask questions, and gather information to make an informed decision.  Also check the website for additional articles, letters, and links to information about Greenways III.

Jim Boyle and Alice Clark from the Whatcom Film Association are on the May 4th agenda as well.  They will start the meeting by offering information about the association and presenting plans for the new film center in downtown Bellingham.  (As stated on their website) Looking to the future, the organization intends to expand its educational and outreach programs and to relocate to a larger venue with room for two screens, offering the potential to increase the variety and artistic merit of independent cinema in downtown Bellingham.  Website: www.whatcomfilm.org.

As we are sending an abbreviated newsletter, please take the time to review the information that we are making available to you on the Edgemoor Neighborhood website. You probably have experienced an increase in fast moving traffic in your area as we have.  We encourage you to think about purchasing a “Keep Kids Alive...Drive 25” sign from Veronica, our safety chairman.  Every spring we seem to have more and more cars racing through our neighborhood so this is the time to band together and attempt to slow down the traffic.

We look forward to seeing you on May 4th at the General Membership Meeting and hope in the meantime that you take a little time to become informed about the issues facing our Edgemoor Neighborhood. Plan to eat light, save room for dessert, and enjoy a nice offering of refreshments provided by the Hospitality Committee.  See you on Thursday.
