ENA Committee Reports

Communications Committee

We appreciate the positive response generated from the ENA informational flyer sent to Edgemoor residents in January.  Thank you to all who have joined ENA this year.  If you haven't already sent your 2006 Membership form, please think about becoming a member.

We should have two new meeting signs, by the ENA Board meeting on the 2nd of March. One will announce Board Meetings, which you are all invited to attend although the focus is on general business. The other sign will announce quarterly Membership Meetings, where we have informative speakers.  These signs will be placed at the corner of Chuckanut Drive, Park Ridge and Hawthorne Road a few days before our monthly meetings.  Thank you our good friend, Lou Geri, who provided the sign boards for us and Steve Monson, Kathy’s brother, for providing the lettering for the signs. Hopefully our new signs will remind our neighbors of the ENA meetings and increase meeting attendance by Edgemoor residents.

Our committee would welcome new members so please consider joining us.

Committee Chair, Kathy Kaiser

Internet and Your Child - Parent Class - A message from Crime Prevention Officer, Tara Fleetwood

I am sending an attachment for you to pass along to anyone in your neighborhood who may be interested in attending our upcoming Internet and Your Child Parent class in April. I will be facilitating this class along with our in house "cyber-guru" Det Scott Matsudaira. It is very informative and eye-opening. I highly recommend it to parents, caregivers and anyone who supervises children's access to a computer.

The attached flyer explains in detail the purpose of the class which is offered on a Saturday or Sunday. We are only able to accept the first 20 people for each day as class size is limited. This class is FREE and will fill up fast! I have also sent a copy of the application for the class which contains consent to a background check. This is a required screening in order to attend the class.

RESPONSIBLE DEVELOPMENT

Update On Fairhaven Highlands

Greenbriar Northwest Associates, LLC and Horizon Bank have submitted a Wetland/Stream Permit Application for their proposed development site on Chuckanut Ridge.  The wetland permit application was submitted and deemed complete just prior to the passing of the new Critical Area Ordinance – and is currently vested under the old, much less protecting CAO.  The official comment period is over but comments will still be accepted up until the decision on the application is made.  The application calls for the filling of several wetlands, partial filling of others and use of a 50 foot buffer plan (new CAO calls for 200ft on Category 1 wetlands).  Information can be found at the City of Bellingham’s website www.cob.org and at www.RDNow.org
