ENA
President’s Update January 2005
Edgemoor
Neighborhood Association
Have you been wondering why there is
so much rapid development in Fairhaven and if anything can be
done about it? Have you heard that the plan to develop Chuckanut Ridge includes a 10 story
apartment complex and wonder how you can voice your opinion? If so, be sure to
attend the February 3rd Meeting of the Association.
Dick McKinley (COB Public Works Director), Jorge
Vega (COB Planning Director) and Chris Spens (Senior Planner) will participate
in a presentation on land use issues. They will provide an overview
of the Plans, Codes and Key Players that effect land use decisions. They will
also address two items in particular: the steps involved in a new subdivision
(Chuckanut Ridge) and an explanation of the current land use
plan in Fairhaven.
The
goal for this program came from the ENA Land Use
Committee.
The Committee felt that in order for citizens to effect change, they need to
understand the process. I have attached an outline
of the presentation which you can print and bring to the meeting.
There
will be a short business meeting before the presentation. There are several issues
that need to be addressed, including websites issues and Southside Coalition
proposals.
On another note, there will be a public meeting
to present the plans for a new home on 334 Bayside
Drive on Wednesday, Feb 2 at the Fairhaven
Village Inn at 7 pm. The architect will be
taking comments on his plan for a 7,000 square foot home. The code at the
present time limits single family residences to 5500 square feet and this house
will require a special permit/variance. If you have concerns about mega homes
you should attend and voice your opinion.
That about wraps it up. See you at the meeting on Thursday, February 3, at 7
pm
at Fairhaven Pavilion in Fairhaven Park.
