Hi Sandie,
The
first step is to apply to have your updated plan "docketed" for
review. Docketing is where staff, the Planning Commission and City Council
review all the amendment proposals and determine which ones should be put on
the list to be reviewed (docketed). Ultimately, the City Council decides
what goes on the docket.
The
deadline for docketing for review this year has passed (it was Dec. 1, 2010).
The
City Council has directed staff to change the process from a calendar year to a
mid-year to mid-year process. So the next opportunity to docket proposals
will be for review in the 2012-2013 amendment cycle.
The
process generally goes like this:
v April 1, 2012 - all proposals for comp plan/neighborhood plan amendments must be submitted to the Planning Department. (Use the comp plan amendment docketing application form)
v April - June, 2012 - Planning Commission and City Council hold public hearings on docketing proposals.
v July 1, 2012 - City Council decides which of the proposals will be placed on the docket for review of the merits.
v July - September - Applicants of proposals placed on the docket submit final Comp Plan amendment application forms. Staff reviews all the amendment proposals and develops recommendations
v October to December, 2012 - Planning Commission reviews the proposals and holds public hearings. Commission makes recommendations to City Council.
v February to June, 2013 - City Council holds public hearings on the proposals.
v By July 1, 2013 - City Council adopts an ordinance approving or denying the proposals.
Let
me know if you have other questions.
