Edgemoor Neighborhood Association
Special Board Meeting
August 8, 2014
The meeting held in
the Meeting Room at Whidbey Island Bank was called to order at approximately 10:10pm
by ENA President Lylene Johnson. Lauri Grove recorded the minutes. There was a Quorum
of the Board present at the meeting.
Election of Officers
This meeting was
called to order in compliance with the ENA bylaws to elect officers.
Nominations were made and positions were filled, voted on and members elected
as follows;
A motion was made for
the secretary to cast the elected ballot
This motion was seconded and passed.
John Erickson decided it was time for him to step down as
an officer of the board. Thanks John, for all your work and input throughout
the many years you served as MNAC Rep. and ENA VP - and continue to serve as
MNAC alternate.
Meeting Schedule
Next up on the
agenda, a suggestion was made for ENA to meet quarterly instead of monthly.
With no pressing concerns in the neighborhood it made sense to make this
adjustment. We will still meet on the first Thursday of each quarter as
follows;
A motion was made,
seconded and passed to hold quarterly meetings starting this September.
General
Business
and Issues:
Edgemoor and Chuckanut Neighbors Magazine:
Lylene attended
the first ‘Neighborhood Gathering’ organized by a new monthly magazine from
Neighborhood Networks Publishing. The dinner held at the Lighthouse Restaurant
for the Edgemoor/Chuckanut neighborhoods was attended by a good handful of
residents. She reported that the evening was free of charge and offered a rather
nice way to mingle with neighbors. More sponsored events of this type will be
planned periodically. The first issue of the magazine is expected to arrive by
mail in October.
Nextdoor Edgemoor:
We received a few
complaints from neighbors that are not getting posts. For some reason spam
settings sometime turns posts off. Contact NextDoor to reinstate and check
settings on the site to have more control over the frequency of posts.
Focus/Direction for ENA Meetings:
Lylene reviewed
the purpose of the association as stated in the bylaws and it was determined
that we are in compliance with this purpose. We do try to keep the neighborhood
informed, educated and in communication with one another by providing a
structure for neighbors to come together to talk about common concerns. We
encourage all residents to come to meetings and welcome conversation. There was
a general discussion about ideas for upcoming meetings. We are always trying to
think of ways to enhance connectivity, encourage meeting attendance and
efficiently communicate to more residents. It was decided it would be nice to
celebrate ENA’s 10th year with the neighborhood. Sandie secured
Bayside pool (rental $80) on Sept. 4th from 8-10. Specifics were
discussed. There would be cake, coffee, bottled water and a chance for the
residents to enjoy a swim. Sandie would post the event on Nextdoor and on the
website - and get the cake. Lauri would take care of getting coffee, water and
paper goods… BYOB and also BYO-additional snacks. Barbara offered that an “issue or suggestion”
box would be a nice addition at the pool as well as at all meetings. Good idea.
Closing:
The meeting was adjourned about 11:26
The next meeting will be held 8-10pm
on Thursday, September
4th at Bayside pool in Edgemoor.
Respectfully
Submitted,
Lauri Grove
